چکیده
Short-term grazing behavior variables are sensitive to the canopy structure and have an impact on daily forage intake. This study evaluated effect of pre- post-grazing heights harvesting process at a patch scale in mixture Brachiaria brizantha (Hochst. ex A. Rich.) Stapf. syn. Urochloa R.D. Webster cv. Marandu (palisade grass) Arachis pintoi Krapov. & W.C. Greg. Belomonte (forage peanut). Treatments were allocated split-plot arrangement completely randomized design. The plots, their entirety, consisted two pre-grazing heights: 25 cm (CH25) 35 (CH35); subplots three levels defoliation severity: no (DS0); 20% depletion height (DS20); 40% (DS40), with eight replications. Heifers allowed graze patches (0.7 × 0.7 m) was recorded. Canopy measurements taken both before after grazing. Patches from CH35 presented greater stem mass for grass (p = 0.001) legume 0.002) than did CH25. Bite rate, bite instantaneous intake rate CH25 < 0.001, p 0.068, 0.074), lower DS20 compared DS0 0.032 0.016). Greater strata negatively influenced rate.

With timely and accurate assessment of forage nitrate levels, steps to reduce the risks of excessive nitrate intake by livestock saliva thereby adding ag...
متن کاملForages and Pastures: Grazing and Forage Management
The objective of this study was to compare summer annuals for fall and winter grazing on irrigated pastures in the Intermountain West. The cool desert areas of this region have short growing seasons (≤120 d) with high daytime temperatures and cool nights resulting in sufficent growing degree days, but impaired production on cool season forages during late summer. Five species were planted in Ca...

Pastures located on southern Iowa cow/calf farms, from 8 to 125 ha in size, were used to evaluate the effects of microclimate, shade, botanical composition, and other pasture characteristics influencing the temporal/ spatial distribution of cattle within and outside streamside zones of pastures. Cows were Angus and Angus-cross on 4 of the farms, and Mexican Corriente on the remaining farm. Duri...
متن کاملRelationships Among Forage and Litter Production in Three Grazing Intensities in Nodooshan Rangeland (Yazd, Iran)
Grazing management plays an important role in the continuous and economicutilization of pastures. Proper grazing management is a main factor for the accumulation ofplant litter which reduces soil erosion and increase the soil permeability to keep moremoisture in the soil. In current study, the effect of three different grazing intensities (low, moderate and high) along with the grazing gradient ...

We examine the possibility of constraining the cosmological mean mass and dark energy densities by an application of the Alcock-Paczyński test on redshifted 21-cm maps of the epoch of reionization. The 21-cm data will be provided as a function of frequency and angular positions on the sky. The ratio of the frequency to angular distance scales can be determined by inspecting the anisotropy patte...
